Imo Governor reduces ministries from 22 to 13

This was revealed by Okorocha on Thursday, November 12, 2015, during a meeting with all the Permanent Secretaries in the state at the Government House in Owerri, the state capital.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has reduced the number of ministries in the state from 22 to 13.

Details of the move were also contained in a statement released by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo.

According to the statement, the number of ministries had to be reduced because of the disturbing economic situation in the country which had compelled the federal and state governments to adopt certain measures.

Okorocha also said that the staff of ministries affected by the cut would be redeployed to other ministries.

The governor seems to be following in the footsteps of President Muhammadu Buhari who has reduced the number of ministries in the country from 42 to 25.

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai also slashed the number of commissioners and ministries in his state in June.
