‘Leave her alone,’ PDP chieftain tells governor

Oshiomhole has accused Okonjo-Iweala of mismanaging the country’s economy and illegally withdrawing funds from the Excess Crude Account.

Ex-Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Sani Usman, has told Governor Adams Oshiomhole to stop finding fault with the activities of former finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Oshiomhole has accused Okonjo-Iweala of mismanaging the country’s economy and illegally withdrawing funds from the Excess Crude Account (ECA).

Usman however chastised the governor saying that his comments against the former minister were unbecoming of a Chief Executive of a state.

He said:

“If Governor Oshiomhole admitted to have a vast knowledge and workings of government, he should know that the erstwhile Finance Minister cannot withdraw any money without due approval by the National Economic Council.”

“The Okonjo-Iweala that we all know is a renowned economist who through hard work and diligence rose to the pinnacle of her career in the World Bank.”

“It was in deference to the call by well-meaning Nigerians that she jettisoned her prime job to serve her fatherland. To in turn compensate her in this form is to say the least unjust and uncharitable.”

Meanwhile, Okonjo-Iweala has vehemently denied Oshiomhole’s claims saying that the governor suffers from ‘numerical diarrhea.’
