Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to separatist leader, and the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, said that Malami’s constant assertion that the IPOB leader jumped bail is “libelous and defamatory” because ‘the Umuahia court already ruled’ that Kanu didn’t jump bail.
What he said: In the litigation filed at an Abia State High Court in Umuahia last Friday, January 13, 2023, sighted by Pulse, he stated that Malami or other FG representatives saying Kanu jumped bail “is highly prejudicial and injurious” to the detained separatist leader’s pending court cases.
Taking to his Twitter voice, the council said: "Last week, I filed a Suit against AGF Malami to stop him from making any further defamatory publication that Onyendu #MNK jumped bail. Such publication is highly prejudicial & injurious to MNK’s other cases pending in various courts. It has to stop!"
What you should know: On October 13, 2022, a Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja acquitted and discharged Kanu from terrorism charges but the Federal Government appealed the decision and the court granted the government’s request to stop the execution of the judgment freeing the IPOB leader.
