‘We’ll announce results in 48 hours,’ Jega says

Nigeria’s Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold tomorrow, Saturday, March 28.

 

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega has said that the results of the general elections will be released within 48 hours.

Jega stated this on Friday, March 27, during a joint press briefing with the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Johnson Olawumi.

“For the 2015 elections, we should be able to declare results nationally within 48 hours. Our aim is to im‎prove upon our performance in 2011,” the INEC Chairman said.

Jega also said that INEC had put everything in place to ensure that the elections are hitch free.

The INEC Chairman also said that voting will take place in 119,973 polling units across the country.
