The Kaduna State Governor and gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Ramalan Yero, has conceded defeat by calling the state's Governor-elect, Nasir El-rufai, on the telephone to congratulate him on his victory.
The Kaduna State Governor and gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Ramalan Yero, has congratulated his major challenger, Mallam Nasir El-rufai, in the Saturday, April 11, governorship race in the state.
El-Rufai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defeated Yero with over 500,000 votes in 16 of the 20 local government areas announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The results of three local government areas are however yet to be announced as at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday, April 12. But with the figures already available, El-rufai has apparently won the race.
Acknowledging this, Governor Yero reportedly called El-rufai on the telephone around 3.00pm to congratulate him on his victory.
“He congratulated El-Rufai and wished him success. He prayed for peace and development of Kaduna state and Nigeria at large. El-Rufai in his response thanked Yero and wished all the best and hope to see you him soon,” a statement credited to the Kaduna State APC Campaign spokesman, Samuel Aruwan said.
