Nigeria’s general elections are slated to hold on Saturday, March 28 and April 11 2015.

Presidential and National Assembly Elections will hold three days from now while the Governorship and State Elections will hold in two weeks time.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it is ready to conduct the polls and to make them credible, free and fair.

Here are 10 things you should know about the upcoming elections:

  1. 82 percent of Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) have been collected across the country.

  2. Accreditation for the elections will start at 8am and end at 1pm while voting will start at 1:30pm and end when the last person votes.

  3. The police has announced that there will be restriction of vehicular movement from 8am to 5pm on election days.

  4. Ballot papers for the Presidential election will be taken out of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) vaults and moved to the respective states.

  5. Red covered boxes will be used for the Presidential ballot, black covered boxes for the Senatorial ballot and green cover boxes for the House of Representative ballot.

  6. Each ballot paper has corresponding colour stripes to assist voters in putting the right ballot paper in the right ballot box.

  7. Ballot papers found in the wrong boxes will be sorted and put in the right boxes.

  8. For each polling /voting point, there is a designated official called overseer, whose primary job is to ensure that voters put the right ballot paper into the right ballot box.

  9. The result sheets will be scanned and published‎ on INEC’s website after the votes are counted.

  10. INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega has said that the elections will be “flawless or near perfect.”
