INEC releases list of candidates for Katsina, Bauchi, Kwara bye-elections

The bye-elections in Bauchi, Katsina, Kwara and Cross River states are scheduled to take place on November 17, 2018

The elections, which are scheduled for November 17, 2018, will see the candidates jostle for three federal house of representative seats and a state house of assembly seat in Cross River.

INEC announced the list of the candidates in a press statement released on Thursday, November 8, 2018.

In Katsina, the candidates that will contest to represent Kankia/Ingawa/Kusada federal constituency are Nasiru Lawal Kankia of the People's Redemption Party (PRP), Abdullahi Umar of the Yes Electorates Solidarity (YES), Abdulsamad Yusuf Abdullahi of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and Abubakar Yahaya Kusada of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Only two candidates will be contesting for the Toro federal constituency seat in Bauchi. They are Shehu Buba Umar (PDP) and  Yusuf Comrade Nuhu (APC).

For Ekiti/Irepodun/Oke-Epo federal constituency of Kwara state bye-election, the candidates are Femi Awokunle Ona-ara of the Labour Party (LP), Olaniyan Taiye Ayorinde of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Jimoh Saheed Damilare (PDP), Ajayi Olayemi Bidemi of the People's Party of Nigeria (PPN) and Olawuyi Raheem Tunji (APC).

Ubong Stella Nkoro (PDP) is the only candidate contesting for the Ikom  Constituency seat in the Cross River State House of Assembly.

According to the statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee of INEC, Barrister Festus Okoye, all arrangements have been made for the successful conduct of the bye-elections.
