IGP orders partial movement restriction

Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State.

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has ordered a partial restriction of movement during the conduct of the Kogi State Governorship elections on Saturday, November 21, 2015.

4,969 personnel of the Police Mobile Force have also been deployed to the state to maintain maximum security, PM News reports.

The Police IG has also assigned the supervision of security measures in the state to Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Sotonye Leroy Wakama.

Wakama will reportedly assisted by three Commissioners of Police and three Assistant Commissioners of Police during the election.

The two major contenders for the state’s top position are incumbent Governor, Idris Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governor, Abubakar Audu of the rulingAll Progressives Congress (APC).

22 political parties have accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to participate in the elections.

Other contestants include Philip Omeiza Salawu of the Labour Party (LP) and Enesie Emmanuel Ozigi of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) among others.
