Confusion as Faleke picks Audu’s son as running mate

Faleke made the announcement on Monday, November 30, 2015, in Lokoja, despite the APC's choice of Yahaya Bello as its candidate.

James Faleke, the running mate to late All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu has chosen Audu’s son, Mohammed as his own running mate.

According to Channels, Faleke made the announcement on Monday, November 30, 2015, in Lokoja, despite the party’s choice of Yahaya Bello as its candidate for the December 5 elections.

Faleke also reportedly vowed to reclaim the mandate of the people which was given to the APC during the November 21 election.

His decision was said to have been supported by APC leaders from the three senatorial districts of the state.

Audu and Faleke were in the lead in the initial polls before the latter’s death on November 22.

The election was later declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

Mohammed Audu was initially chosen to take his father’s place but was replaced with Bello at the last minute.

Faleke had earlier rejected the APC’s nomination of Bello saying that he is the rightful governor of the state.

Meanwhile, APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu is said to be against Bello’s nomination and is reportedly throwing his weight behind Faleke.
