Senate confirms new Chairman, 5 National Commissioners

The new INEC officials were appointed on October 21, 2015, at an emergency Council of State meeting called by President Muhammadu Buhari.

 

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu.

The Senate also approved the appointments of five new National Commissioners.

The new INEC officials were appointed on October 21, 2015, at an emergency Council of State meeting called by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Yakubu was chosen to replace former Chairman,  Amina Zakari who is now the INEC Commissioner representing the North-West.
