6 commissioners may defect to PDP soon

The six members of Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s cabinet are expected to defect to the ruling party on or before Friday, March 27.

According to reports, six Rivers State commissioners might soon defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The six members of Governor Rotimi Amaechi’s cabinet are expected to defect to the ruling party on or before Friday, March 27, Punch reports.

This comes barely 48 hours after Amaechi’s deputy, Tele Ikuru abandoned the APC for the PDP.

“Yes, the deputy governor has defected and you will agree with me that he (Ikuru) has supporters who will definitely want to go with him. We are suspecting them already and very soon, they will show themselves,” a source in the Government House told Punch.

“But one thing is clear, the Amaechi they are betraying has always stood by them. Amaechi does not betray anybody and anything he tells you today, check in the next 20 years, he will still maintain his stand,” the source added.

Mr Ikuru defected to the PDP on Sunday, March 22, saying that the Rivers man in him had rejected the APC.
