The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) in Kogi, has called for the sustenance of the democratic legacy of the late Alhaji Abubakar Audu, the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress in the state.

This is contained in statement issued in Lokoja on Saturday by Alhaji Abdanis Ibrahim, the chairman of the conference in Kogi.

He said that political class should uphold Audu’s political values, struggle for emancipation of Kogi, commitment to rule of law and violence-free politicking.

He also stated that the late Audu, who he described as a founding father of modern democracy in the state, was on a mission to seek people’s support and become governor to further develop state before he died.

"The death of Audu has introduced an unprecedented and multi-dimensional scenario to Kogi politics.

"There is the necessity to immortalise the late Audu as an icon of inestimable personality and character towering exceedingly above all colleagues,’’ the statement quoted him as saying.

He urged stakeholders to ensure that the supplementary election slated for Dec. 5 would be error-proof; devoid of violence.

Ibrahim urged the people of the state to defend the peace that the late Audu stood for by ensuring a peaceful conclusion of the election.
