According to a report by TheCable, Alhassan Rurum, a former speaker of the current House was elected as his replacement.
Rurum resigned as speaker in July 2017 amid allegations of bribery to the tune of N100 million. Attah was voted as his replacement. After a committee set up to investigate the allegations cleared him, he was recently elected deputy speaker of the House.
Rurum has been sworn in as speaker for the second time on Monday.
Why Attah was impeached
During impeachment proceedings against Attah, he was accused of incompetence, corruption, and failure to carry other members of the Assembly along.
He was almost impeached in May when 21 members of the 40-member House reportedly signed to remove him from office due to allegations of being incompetent.
Armed police officers shut down the Kano State House of Assembly complex on May 14 to stop members from gaining access to the premises, which led Attahto order the suspension of all House activities until after the Eid-El Kabir festivities.
Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, had to intervene to resolve the conflict before the Assembly complex was reopened.
