Elders warn Buhari over Governorship elections

The elders also called on the government to ensure that adequate security is put in place, to forestall violence during the elections.

 

A group, under the aegis of Bayelsa Elders forum, have warned the Federal Government not to interfere with the upcoming Governorship elections, in the state.

The elders also said they are totally in support of Governor Seriake Dickson’s candidacy.

They also called on the government to ensure that adequate security is put in place, to forestall violence during the elections.

An excerpt of the statement released by the elders reads “In the interest of peace and security of Bayelsa State, we urge all the political parties to ensure that their candidates, leaders and followers are of good conduct in accordance with the peace accord signed among the candidates and the Independent National Electoral Commission, and not to disrupt the prevailing peace in the state, before, during and after the election of December 5, 2015.”

The Bayelsa state Governorship elections will hold on Saturday, December 5, 2015.
