Meanwhile the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been forced to cancel its primary elections in the state due to security challenges.

Former governor, Timipre Sylva was initially declared winner of the polls but Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, who was in Bayelsa to monitor the exercise, accused Sylva of disrupting it with hired thugs.
