The Abia State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has affirmed the victory of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in the April 11, 2015, elections.
Tribunal upholds Governor Ikpeazu’s election victory
The judgment was delivered by the tribunal today, November 3, in Umuahia, the state capital.

Ikpeazu’s victory was challenged by opponent and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Alex Otti whose petition was dismissed for lacking merit.
The Abia governor contested the elections on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was sworn in on May 29.
Ikpeazu made headlines in June when he became the fourth governor to slash his salary by 50 per cent in a bid to cut the cost of governance.
Other governors who made the move are Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi andAbdullahi Gandujeof Kano.
