Yusuf Lasun is the new Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Lasun was elected on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the inauguration of the 8th House.

He emerged victorious after defeating opponent, Monguno Tahir, who had been chosen as the sole candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lasun, who represents Irepodun, Olorunda, Osogbo Federal Constituency in Osun State, won 203 votes to defeat Tahir, who won 153 votes.

He will serve as deputy to new House Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, who was also elected on Tuesday.
