Former Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has said that his loyalty towards ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan remains unshaken.

Shekarau also denied reports that Jonathan’s former aides had abandoned him.

The former governor made the comments on Wednesday, September 24, 2015.

“No, you see, all of us who worked with Jonathan are still intact with him. We are still with Jonathan we cannot abandon him because, as our leader, he has played his part in the development of the country. We don’t need to publicise our meetings with him in our private capacity,” Shekarau said while speaking with journalists at the Abuja National Stadium.

“We have done our bit and we have taken a retreat to plan ahead, and prepare for the next competition in which Nigerians will judge. PDP will bounce back, it is like a force button which has given us the opportunity to reorganise for future elections and get back our mandate,” he added.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost its 16-year position as Nigeria’s ruling party after Jonathan was defeated by All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari.
