The President made the disclosure on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, during a closed-door meeting with members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), Vanguard reports.
Jonathan urged the members of the party to put their defeat in the recently held elections behind them while he also revealed that some of his close aides did not vote during the elections.
He further expressed optimism that the PDP would bounce back saying that adding that he would make the trip abroad with his family and come back to politics, though not immediately.
The meeting was reportedly held to address the current crisis within the PDP due to some members calling for the resignation of party Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu and members of the NWC.
Some PDP chieftains have blamed Mu’azu for the party’s defeat in the polls with Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose accusing him of selling the PDP out to the All Progressives Congress.
Meanwhile, the PDP Chairman has travelled abroad to receive treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
