President finally visits Borno

The president arrived at the Maiduguri airport today, January 15 and was reportedly welcomed by the State Governor, Kashim Shettima.

President Goodluck Jonathan has paid a surprise visit to Maiduguri, Borno State.

The president arrived at the Maiduguri airport today, January 15 and was reportedly welcomed by the State Governor, Kashim Shettima.

Jonathan is said to have been accompanied on the visit by the Chief of Defense staff, Air Vice Marshall Alex Badeh and National Security adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

The president had been severely criticized for failing to visit the state which has lost many of its citizens to Boko Haram.

Jonathan was also criticized for not visiting Chibok in Borno, where over 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped last April.
