Fashola is the real ‘Mr Fix Nigeria’

The former Lagos State Governor is a remarkable leader who has earned worldwide praise for his work in Nigeria’s commercial capital, hence it’s no surprise that he is now tasked with fixing Nigeria.

Former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola has been appointed the Minister of Power, Works and Housing.

Fashola got the big job on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, after being sworn-in by President Muhammadu Buhari.

There has never been any doubt that the former governor would hold an important position in Buhari’s government. On October 13, 2015, before the president announced his intention to run for office, he paid a visit to Fashola leading to speculations that he would choose the then governor as his running mate.

However, the reports led to outrage with many, including former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, condemning the choice of two Muslims as candidates for the country’s highest offices.

Fashola also accompanied Buhari to the G7 summitin June soon after the president assumed office.

The former Lagos State Governor is a remarkable leader who has earned worldwide praise for his work in Nigeria’s commercial capital, hence it’s no surprise that he is now tasked with fixing Nigeria.

The importance of Fashola’s new assignment cannot be overemphasized.

He is now in charge of three very vital ministries which before now used to stand alone and is, as a result, being called the “three-in-one minister” and a “three-in-one man”.

With Fashola at the helm of affairs in the Ministry of Power, Nigerians can finally hope for constant electricity because it’s what Fashola does, he gets things done.

“I mentally call him a mechanic. He approaches things in a very clinical mechanized fashion. In other words, he diagnoses the problem and then goes at it like a skilled mechanic, looking at the pieces,"  Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka once said of the former governor.

"The ones which work, he puts back and those that don't work, he sets out to completely eliminate or transform them. And he does it ruthlessly because he is not a politician,”  Soyinka added.

Fashola confirmed this opinion by immediately announcing on resumption of office that he was there to fix the problems.

“We are here to work with you in solving problems on ground as quickly as possible. We want to know if some of those problems are man-made or systemic," he said while speaking to officials of the ministry on Wednesday.

"We want information on what has been done, what remained to be done and what are the future plans,”  he added.

Fashola is just a man, a man who has been given a very trying task, but it is a task he is well able to accomplish because he has already accomplished what many once believed was impossible.

All hail Nigeria’s new Prime Minister, the real and original Mr Fix Nigeria, Babatunde Raji Fashola.

God bless Nigeria and her people and may they have a Brighter, Rewarding Future.
