Mrs Aisha Buhari said, during a recent interview with BBC, that her husband’s government had been hijacked by a cabal and that she wouldn’t support him for re-election if the situation remained the same.
The lawmakers made their comments on Sunday, October 16, while speaking to Vanguard.
“She’s drawing her husband’s attention to issues that sycophants around him would not tell him. But she has come out with the truth and is saying it because she loves the husband,” Chairman of the House Committee on Legislative Budget, Timothy Golu said.
“She is closer to the man (Buhari) more than any other person and since she has voiced this out, the husband should take it and review some of his actions and decisions.
“It will not be good for the President to ignore the complaints from the wife. She has been with him and is disturbed by certain things happening around the husband, so it’s natural for her to talk,” he added.
Edo state rep, Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma also said that Mrs Buhari’s comments had vindicated those who had earlier revealed that the President had been hijacked by a cabal.
Meanwhile, Buhari has responded to his wife’s comments by saying that she belongs in a kitchen and not in politics.
