PDP spokesperson to sue APC for N5BN

Fani-Kayode is also demanding damages of N5 billion due to a statement made by Mohammed about the PDP spokesperson’s mental health.

The spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign organization, Femi Fani-Kayode is set to sue the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lai Mohammed for defamation.

“…We are seriously concerned that Mr. Fani-Kayode may have become unhinged, perhaps as a result of a relapse into an unhealthy lifestyle of substance abuse,” Mohammed had said in relation to recent verbal attacks launched by Fani-Kayode on the opposition party.

The PDP spokesperson is also demanding a retraction of the statement and an apology from the APC within seven days.

“Our Client denies in its entirety the contents of the above publication and innuendoes therein, and further states that every allegation against him in the said publication is false and defamatory of his person and character,” a letter from Fani-Kayode’s lawyers, Ahmed Raji and Co, read.

“Consequently, we demand that you withdraw the said statement and render an apology to our Client within Seven (7) days of the receipt of this letter. You are also to enter into negotiation for damages as we have firm instructions to claim Five Billion Naira damages against you,” the letter added.

The APC has also threatened to sue Fani-Kayode for accusing its leader, Bola Tinubu of taking an oath with Vice-Presidential candidate, Yemi Osinbajo in a bid to take power ‘through the back door’.
