The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal has upheld the election of Senator Dino Melaye.

“Praise God. Senator Dino Melaye’s election upheld and Senator Smart Adeyemi’s petition dismissed for lack of merit,” he wrote.

His victory in the March 28 election was challenged at the tribunal by Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Smart Adeyemi.

A witness at the tribunal had alleged in September that the election results were falsified by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in favour of Senator Melaye.

Melaye was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election and is currently the Chairman of the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Publicity.
