President Muhammadu Buhari will be visiting Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital and most populous city, on Thursday, December 9, 2021.

The president will be attending the public presentation of ‘My Participations,' the autobiography of Bisi Akande, a former interim national chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

The event will take place at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, according to a statement from Tunde Rahman, media aide of APC chieftain Bola Tinubu.

Buhari will be the special guest of honour at the event; with Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as Chief Host.

A former Governor of Osun State, Akande trained as an accountant. His corporate experience began as an executive of British Petroleum.

He has served as councilor and a member of the constituent assembly.

In 1979, Akande was appointed Secretary to the State Government of Oyo by Bola Ige, then governor of the state. He later emerged Deputy Governor in 1983.

Akande was detained by the military following the collapse of the Second Republic in 1983. After regaining his freedom in 1985, he reportedly vowed never to participate in politics again.

However, he went on to join other activists in opposing the military and emerged as the Osun State leader of Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-political group.

In 1999, he became Governor of Osun state from the platform of the now-defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD).
