President Buhari has said that the inability of some state Governors to pay salaries is a national disgrace.

As a result of the current economic situations in the country, some Governors revealed that they cannot pay the salaries of their staff.

Buhari also said that the previous administration could not save any money because of what he called a ‘wrong consumption culture.’

The President said this while speaking to staff of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday, June 22, 2016.

Buhari said "27 out of the 36 states couldn't pay salaries. This is a disgrace to Nigeria. It is a disgrace up till now most of the states cannot pay salaries. What happened to all we have gotten over the years? We look up and down, left, right and centre, what have we saved? There was nothing because we developed a consumption culture that we were not supposed to develop.”

He also said he was not sure if retirees are actually receiving their entitlements.

The Deputy Minority leader of the Senate, Senator Emmanuel Bawcha has announced that 49 Senators in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have withdrawn their support for President Buhari following the alleged attempts by the Federal Government to prosecute the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.
