Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who spoke on behalf of the governors, also said that there were no worries over the president’s health.

President Muhammadu Buhari

The governors made the comment on Wednesday, April 26, following the president’s absence from the FEC meeting of the day.

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who spoke on behalf of the governors, also said that there were no worries over the president’s health.

“We are not worried yet and have no reason to be worried, but we however, urge Nigerians to continue to pray for the president to be in good health,” El-Rufai said.

“Even me that is 57 years old, I still go for medical checkup,’’ El-Rufai added.

Buhari was first absent from the April 12 FEC meeting while the April 19 meeting could not hold because of the Easter holidays.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo presided over both the April 12 and April 26 meetings.

In explanation of Buhari’s absence on April 12, Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed said that the president had decided to attend to other matters because the agenda was light.

Mohammed also said, on April 26, that the president would work from home because he needed to rest.

Buhari's absence from the April 12 meeting was the first since his March 10 return to Nigeria from a 49-day medical vacation in London.

Buhari had said, on arrival in Nigeria, that he did not remember being so sick in all his life.

He also said that he would soon need follow-up treatment for the undisclosed ailment.
