The decision affirming Fayose's victory was reached by the apex court in Abuja on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
Nigeria’s Supreme Court has upheld the victory of Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose in the June 21, 2014 elections.
The decision was reached by the apex court in Abuja on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
In unanimously affirming Fayose’s victory, a seven-man panel led by Justice John Fabiyi supported the earlier decisions of the Court of Appeal and the Ekiti State Governorship Election Tribunal, which both ruled that the petition challenging Fayose’s victory lacked merit.
The Supreme court also dismissed the appeal of the petitioner, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose won 203,090 votes to defeat APC candidate and incumbent governor, Kayode Fayemi who won 120,433 votes.
