As the 2019 general elections draw near, there are strong indications that some governors may dump their current parties for more 'advantageous' ones.

Call it cross-carpeting or defection, truth is that most Nigerian politicians are not loyal especially when it affects their personal interest. This played out shortly before the 2015 general elections.

With the current in-house crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it is obvious that most politicians would soon denounce the love they have for their parties.

1. Ayo Fayose: Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose has been more vocal against the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration APC government than the PDP spokesman. Most Nigerians were however surprised when he dropped a hint that he may dump the PDP in 2018 to prosecute his succession battle during the 2018 Ekiti state governorship poll.

“I don’t know the platform I will use for the 2018 election yet and at the appropriate time, I will tell you,”  Fayose said on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

In a reaction to Fayose's comment, the Plateau state Governor, Simon Lalong Ekiti state governor should not dream of decamping to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Well, until another political party emerges, leaving the PDP could be the end of Fayose's political career.

2. Olusegun Mimiko: Truth is, since the Sheriff/Jimoh 'romance' which contributed to the victory of Rotimi Akeredolu Aketi, Mimiko has not been a happy man. His constant visits to President Buhari have Nigerians thinking if he wants to decamp to the APC anytime soon.
