Party says it has parted ways with Sheriff

The All Progressive Congress (APC) said it has parted ways with the embattled Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sen Ali Modu Sheriff at the venue of its convention in 2014.

APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun

Speaking on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, the National Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Maimala Buni, said PDP should not blame them for their woes.

“It’s not true that we planted Sheriff in the PDP, we’ve nothing to do with him; we parted ways with him right at our convention venue, prior to the 2015 elections. It’s their crime that is hunting them and they want to vent their anger on us,” Buni said in a report carried by Daily Trust.

“The PDP should put its house in order rather than playing to the gallery and blaming others but themselves for their sins which have come to hunt them.  It is evident that the PDP has chosen to employ diversionary tactics because of its inability to produce credible candidates for the forthcoming elections in Edo and Ondo states,” he added.

Ali Modu Sheriff has said through his spokesman, Inuwa Bwala, that members of the Makarfi-led caretaker committee were only chasing shadows because they had no case.

“It’s public knowledge that throughout his political life, Sheriff never had a god-father. He worked well to become the governor of Borno State twice, a senator three times and he is a story of success in his family life.”

“The allegation that he is being sponsored by the APC to destroy the PDP is not true, the insinuation is the work of those who wants to hijack the PDP,” he said.
