Governor Obiano wins APGA primary

Although the governor was the sole contestant in the primary, he still had 11 "no" votes against his candidature while 1,070 people voted "yes".

Obiano won the party's primary held on Tuesday, August 15, at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women's Development Centre, Awka.

The total accredited delegates were 1,092 as 11 votes were declared invalid.

Reacting to Obiano's victory, a former national chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, expressed optimism that the Governor would be re-elected.

Umeh, who is the Director-General of Obiano re-election campaign organisation, said APGA 's performance under Obiano in the state would guarantee the party's victory in the upcoming election.

He warned the party's opponents in the poll not to attempt to rig the November election adding that the state would resist it.
