Former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio has been named the Minority Leader of the eighth Senate.

Akpabio was nominated for the position by the South-South caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Emmanuel Bwacha, representing Taraba State, emerged Deputy Minority Leader while Federal Capital Territory representative, Phillip Aduda was appointed Minority Whip.
The Deputy Minority Whip is Senator Biodun Olujimi who represents the Ekiti West Senatorial District.

The eighth Senate resumed today, July 28, 2015, after adjourning on June 25.
