A former minister, John Udoedehe has reportedly said that former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio used to give out large sums of money to members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after meetings.

Udoedehe made the claim during an interview on Planet FM in Uyo, the state capital, on Saturday, November 7, 2015, according to Premium Times.

“Godswill Akpabio used to give us at least N3million each as transport money every night we attended caucus meeting in Government House,” Udoedehe reportedly said.

“My own was special, it was more than N3million,” the former minister, who is now a member of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Board of Trustees, added.

Akpabio had earlier admitted that the PDP used to get cash from former President, Goodluck Jonathan when he was in office.

“We can no longer run to the Villa for cash so we don’t have the wherewithal to maintain that large number of secretariat staff,” the former governor had said after the opposition party’s staff launched a strike to protest planned pay cuts and dismissals.

The PDP lost its position as Nigeria's ruling party after Jonathan suffered defeat at the hands of APC candidate and now President, Muhammadu Buhari.
