Abia youth throw weight behind APGA governorship candidate

The youth of Osisioma in Abia have declared that Alex Otti of APGA is their candidate ahead of the 2019 election.

Otti is of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). He controversially lost the 2015 vote to incumbent Governor of Abia, Okezie Ikpeazu, amid rigging allegations.

According to a statement signed by Ferdinand Ekeoma and made available to newsmen, the youths made their position known when they paid a solidarity visit to Dr. Otti at his home in Umuru Nvosi, in Isialangwa South LGA of Abia state.

Speaking through their President, Onyekachi Nwaogwu, the youths who came in their dozens explained that as youths whose fortunes have continued to dwindle on a daily basis, they require a leader that has the pedigree of Otti to explore their talents through focused and purposeful leadership.

They also made it clear that their Amasato Ward Three is the most populated and dominant ward in Osisioma which is capable of mobilizing the needed support for Otti.

The youths explained that the relegation and deployment of youths for unhealthy and unproductive ventures by successive governments in Abia has done irredeemable damage to them, hence their desire for an end to recycled leadership in Abia.

Praise

Otti praised the youths for their resilience and doggedness, and thanked them for the unprecedented and uncompromised support they have continued to offer him in spite of numerous attempts to either compromise or strangulate them.

He assured them that he was ready to put in his best for the good of Abia state.

The APGA chieftain restated his position that his governorship ambition was not driven by the quest for personal economic fortunes as known to millions of Abians, but by his selfless and passionate desire to bring his wealth of knowledge to bear in the governance of Abia state.

Otti called on the youths to ensure that they get their PVCs and also mobilize others to do so, and made it clear that he has no godfather, except the God in heaven, and thus would not share workers’ salaries with any godfather.

Burnt in 2015

Otti is a former Diamond Bank MD who enjoyed enormous support when he hurled his hat into the political ring in 2014.

He contested the 2015 vote in court and won at the Appeal Court. The Supreme Court would subsequently overturn the decision of the lower court.
