Elections might be postponed – INEC

An electoral commissioner made the revelation during a press conference on Wednesday, February 4, saying that the elections could be delayed if the number of PVCs distributed was too low.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that the upcoming General Elections might be postponed if it’s unable to distribute enough Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) to citizens.

An electoral commissioner made the revelation during a press conference on Wednesday, February 4, saying that the elections could be delayed if the number of PVCs distributed was too low, Reuters reports.

"Let's see how the PVC (permanent voter card) distribution goes by Feb 8, then maybe,"Amina Zachary, an INEC staff reportedly said.

She however added that no official decision had been taken on the matter by the commission.

INEC has extended the deadline for PVC collection to February 8, in a bid to ensure that all registered voters collect their cards.
