Jonathan chooses Sambo as running mate

Jonathan made this announcement on Thursday, December 11 at the Eagles Square in Abuja after he was formally ratified as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

President Goodluck Jonathan has announced that Vice President, Namadi Sambo will once again be his running mate for the upcoming 2015 elections.

The president, while giving his acceptance speech to the hearing of delegates and party faithfuls, stated that he was picking his “tested and loyal” VP to run with him for the presidential elections which are slated to hold in February 2015.

There had previously been speculations that Jonathan would drop Sambo, who many believe is lacking in political strength, but the president has laid all such rumours to rest with his announcement.

The president is the PDP’s sole presidential aspirant but his candidacy had to be officially ratified by voting in accordance with the Electoral Act.
