As part of the efforts to improve the mining industry, the Federal Government has given the go-ahead to states to explore the country’s mineral resources.

Though the right to explore mineral resources all over the country belongs exclusively to the FG, it has encouraged states to feel free to conduct exploration expedition if they please.

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi confirms this during a visit by the Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Wale Oluwo at his office in Abuja.

The Commissioner led an entourage to the Minister’s office to submit some requests to the Federal Government.

Fayemi is optimistic that this would work in favour of the Federal Government and the public as it would provide jobs for Nigerians and increase the Federal Government’s revenue through the payment of royalties.
