The thrills and grips from the first Enyo Open Ideas Competition (EOIC)

No surprise that ENYO Retail and Supply, a leading fuel retailing company in Nigeria embraced this in a big way!

It was six full months of pure anticipation from when the Enyo Open Ideas Competition (EOIC) commenced in February, with the opportunity for Nigerians to express their talent through the and creation of ideas for a sustainable design for ENYO’s service stations. Sparking interest to a large number of individuals including architects and creatives with solid professional backgrounds, over 350 entries were received in response to the task of developing a service station of the future. How fascinating!

With no stone left unturned on the journey to choosing finalists, the judges comprised of renowned architects in Nigeria such as Fitzgerald Umah, Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Architects, Lagos State Chapter & Managing Director/CEO, Contemporary Architecture Ltd and Tosin Oshinowo, Director, CmDesign Atelier. It was a rigorous process on the decision for who to go to the next stage!

After months of extreme deliberation, the wait is finally over! On Tuesday 11th August, 2020 at the ENYO Olowo Eko Service Station, the announcement was made! The selected and well-deserved finalists were indeed crowned. The winning team comprising of Tobiloba Babalola, Ifeoluwa Akande and Olumide Owoyele received the sum of ₦1 million, following ₦500,000.00 and ₦250,000.00 for second and third place respectively. Whilst proclaiming the winners, the Chief Executive Officer, ENYO Retail and Supply, Abayomi Awobokun said, “I couldn’t be more excited about the Enyo Open Ideas Competition which was born out of the desire to create new service and products spaces leveraging both our ideas and the ideas of young professionals with the hope of achieving more respectful, user friendly, and functional retail spaces for our customers…We are grateful for all entries received, some were particularly innovative, and others showed a lot of efforts have been put in by the contestants. Importantly, we are proud that judges were committed to the competition, and their selection leaves no one in doubt that the winners should be commended and encouraged”.

Even more exciting, the winners went on to display 3D models of their designs as they received their prize. An absolute sight to behold! These winners produced a design concept which set them apart, ticking all the boxes. It was a true delight to see the winners elated!

It is without a doubt that next edition of the Enyo Open Ideas Competition announced to begin later this year, will have two times the number of contestants and of course, the creativity - One which we highly anticipate! Not to forget that this competition which started in 2019 is sponsored by JMG Limited, Goldfire and Sylma Signs.
