Nigeria diversity shines bright for Independence Day through #OneNigeria Hashtag Challenge

The short-video platform is unveiling a series of coordinated challenges and prompts that promise to make the day a mix of joy and pride in the motherland.

First up, despite the different languages and cultures in Nigeria, the country is still one community united by common desires to lead better lives, and in honour of that, TikTok is launching a special #OneNigeria sticker and in addition to this, under the trending tab, there will be the Naija Face paint and the I love Naija effect available for users.

The #OneNigeria sticker and hashtag is a useful resource to catalogue all the absolutely wonderful things about being a Nigerian, with users being encouraged to participate with pictures and videos that can be shared with their friends and followers.

Finally, a specially-curated #OneNigeria playlist, which users may find from searching #oneNigeriamusic, will be made available, allowing them to re-discover some of the greatest hits by Nigerian artists as well as current songs that continue to define the local soundscape.

Boniswa Sidwaba, TikTok Content Operations Manager, Africa, says that TikTok is excited to be part of Nigeria's 60th Independence Day celebration and that she looks forward to watching users express their creative ideas on the day. “TikTok prides itself on offering a home for creative expression, encouraging users to share authentic moments from their lives. On 1 October, we really want this to come to life. We encourage locals to get involved in the challenge and to inspire one another.
