Nike releases a new film for the 3rd chapter of ‘You Can’t Stop Us’ campaign
Sportswear giants Nike has released an amazing film for the third chapter of it’s ‘You Can’t Stop Us’ campaign which has been viewed over 40 million times on Youtube, 38 million on Twitter and 3m on Instagram.
Now in its third chapter, a new film with the same name as the campaign has been released. According to Nike, the film which is narrated by American football star Megan Rapinoe was created to inspire athletes to keep using their voices and come together to create.
“I believe it’s everybody’s responsibility to advocate for change,” Rapinoe said in a statement from Nike.
“We have all these people in the streets, using their voices, and those voices are being heard. I ask people to be energized by this moment and not let up. Players may be back on the pitch, but we are not going back to an old normal. We need to continue to reimagine this world and make it better.”
The key message of the campaign according to Nike is; “Sport teaches us how to find the power within. No matter the opponent, no matter the lead, no matter the odds, the optimism and courage that defines the world of sport can also serve as a beacon of hope and resilience that inspires us all.”
Developed through research of more than 4,000 pieces of footage, the resulting montage underscores commonalities shared by athletes around the world, highlighting how resourceful and inventive post-production techniques can help create standout messages despite current pandemic restrictions on filmmaking.
The film featured the most popular athletes in the world endorsed by Nike: LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Naomi Osaka, Caster Semenya, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Serena Williams and Colin Kaepernick.
“What I love about sport is the opportunity it creates for change,” tennis star Osaka also said in the statement.

“Sport taught me that it’s okay to be different, that you don’t have to fit into anyone else’s box. If there’s even one little girl who picks up a tennis racket because she sees someone who looks like her step out onto the court, that’s a victory to me.”
“We are back on the pitch and ready for this new chapter,” Mbappé added.
“I’m so proud to be part of it [You Can’t Stop Us]. The last few months have taught us about strength and the need to be, live and evolve together.”
Nike’s ‘You Can’t Stop Us’ campaign started with the first chapter which invited athletes everywhere to ‘Play Inside’ and ‘Play for the World’. Nike supported these athletes with digital resources they needed to stay active indoors and tools that span a range of digital content and platforms during the lockdown that stemmed in most parts of the world because of the coronavirus pandemic.
On May 23, Nike launched the second chapter in the ‘You Can’t Stop Us’ campaign which was titled ‘Never Too Far Down’ and narrated by basketball legend LeBron. The film was created to help inspire all athletes that together, we are capable of anything.
Nike’s latest film reiterates the company’s purpose which is to unite the world through sports to create a healthy planet, active communities and an equal playing field for all.
In June, Michael Jordan and the Nike-owned Jordan brand pledged a total of $100 million in addition to Nike’s initial pledge of $40 million towards promoting racial equality, social justice and ensuring access to education.
With its expanding presence in Nigeria through its partnership with fastforward stores, Nike continues to show the same commitment, supporting Nigerian athletes like Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie, promoting sports in the country and uniting the world through sports.
