Man flogs son to death for being dishonest

Ibrahim Mohammed, who beat his son to death, says he was only trying to correct him.

Operatives attached to the Paiko Division, arrested Mohammed after he was reported to the police by one Abubakar Adamu of Yidna village in Paiko area of the state.

Mohammed, a cattle rearer was said to have beaten his son with a cane until he died, for mischief.

Mohammed who is now full of regrets after the incident, confessed he flogged his child to death, but said he had no intention of killing his son, adding that he was only trying to correct him when tragedy struck.

“My son had not been honest with me on issues; I got angry with him and lost my temper when I was beating him. Unfortunately, he died. I am really sorry for what I did,” he stated.

Speaking on the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspect had been charged to court
