40-year-old teacher remanded in prison for sexually assaulting 9 pupils

An Igbosere magistrate court has remanded a 40-year-old lesson teacher, Faruk Adam, in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting nine pupils.

The defendant was charged to court on nine counts bordering around sexual assaults.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Peace Chukwudi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at No. 1 Jaiye Balogun Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos between November 2018 and February 2019.

Chukwudi said the defendant inserted his fingers into the private parts of the 9 pupils between the ages of 9 and 13.

She added that Adam sexually specifically assaulted a 13-year-old victim, by squeezing her breast.

In her ruling Magistrate K. O. Doja-Ojo ordered that the case file be duplicated and a copy sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

She remanded the defendant in prison pending the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice before adjourning the case till March 21 for mention.
