Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State on Wednesday sympathised with his Akwa-Ibom counterpart, Udom Emmanuel, over the death of some worshipers in a collapsed church building in Uyo on Saturday.

The sympathy is conveyed in a statement given to journalists by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade in Akure on Wednesday.

In the statement, Mimiko expressed shock at the building collapse and death of worshippers.

Mimiko, however, thanked God for the escape of Gov. Udom from the scene, and prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims.

“I continue to thank God over your miraculous escape from the Church while the building collapsed.

“The government and people of Ondo state commiserate with you and family members of worshipers who lost loved ones to the incident.

“We also pray for the repose of the souls of worshipers who fell victims of the unfortunate incident”, Momoko said.
