We are detaining Shiite leader for his good – DSS

The legal counsel to the DSS, Tijjani Gazali said El-Zakzaky is still vulnerable and he needs protection.

The legal counsel to the DSS, Tijjani Gazali said El-Zakzaky is still vulnerable and he needs protection.

Gazali told an Abuja High Court that “He (El-Zakzaky) needs not give his consent, but the point is he remains vulnerable and is under protective custody and the job of the DSS is to protect every Nigerian.”

This is coming on the heels of an accusation levelled against the security agency by El-Zakzaky’s counsel, Festus Okoye.

Okoye alleges that the Shiite leader’s rights are being violated by his continued detention.

He said “They told us that he is being held at his own will, but we are yet to hear that from him. So until we consult him and he says that then we can confirm it.”

Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana revealed to newsmen that the Shiite leader is blind in his left eye.

Suhaila Ibraheem, the daughter of Shiite sect leader, El-Zakzaky, also accused the Nigerian Army of allegedly killing her 3 brothers.
