Bayelsa Gov says govt spent N4bn on overhead in 2015

He said that out of the N83 billion allocations to the state within the year, more than N32 billion was used for workers’ salaries.

Seriake Dickson

Dickson, who spoke during the state’s monthly transparency briefing, said the expenditure was for the judiciary, executive and the legislative arms of government.

“This is how we managed the money for the year and was able to meet up with the challenges and obligations of government.

“We are facing a very difficult situation with the available resources in our hands; the workers’ salaries have not been paid due to the dwindling resources,” he said.

“After deducting the state’s debts from the federation account, we have N3billion left for the month of February and N1.7 billion for the month of March.

“The state also got a total of N4.9 billion in April; we are surviving in a very tight economy, but I must assure the people of Bayelsa that the state will definitely come out of it.

“We must commercialise the state enterprises so that we can save cost and maximise profit,” the governor stressed.

Dickson also said that allocations from the federation account were steadily dwindling.
