Senate criticises EFCC for arresting automaker

According to reports, Innoson spokesperson, Cornel Osigwe, said his boss was arrested for reportedly jumping bail in connection to a case he has with Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB).
Speaking on the issue, the Senate also mandated the Senate Committee on Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption to investigate their actions, Channels TV reports.
EFCC operative allegedly slapped Chukwuma’s wife
The lawmakers also threatened to deal with the EFCC operative that allegedly slapped Chukwuma’s wife.
In his comment, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu said that EFCC’s job is not to collect debt.
Ekweremadu also said that the issue was a private matter between the auto-maker and GTB.
Innoson boss allegedly manipulated bank documents
In its defence, GTB is claiming that Chukwuma manipulated bank and shipping documents to obtain tax waivers from the Nigerian government.
Meanwhile, the EFCC also accused the chairmanof Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwuma, of mobilising thugs to attack its operatives to prevent his arrest.
