The Police spokesman also called for the resignation of the Benue state governor for failing to protect the lives and properties of residents within his domain.

Speaking at plenary, Gbilla described the comments as “insensitive”, “inhuman” and “highly unprofessional”, adding that by such, the police spokesman is “unqualified” to be in the force.

He also accused the police spokesman of being insensitive to the killings in Benue state.

The House also demanded an apology from the inspector general of Police, Ibrahim Idris for his perceived unwillingness to enforce the anti-open grazing law passed in the state.

“For him to come out to say the governor is a drowning man, he is actually speaking the mind of the police force,”Johnson Oghuma said.

“He is confirming the role of the police in the killings in Benue. And that is very unfortunate.

“The police must be called to order before it is too late,” he added.
