Electricity generation continues to improve – TCN

The record level of 4,810.7 megawatts was reached at 8:45pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, the agency said.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has said that electricity generation in the country has reached a new peak of 4,810.7 megawatts.

The record level was reached at 8:45pm on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, the agency said.

This was contained in a statement signed by TCN Managing Director, System/Market Operation, Dipak Sarma

The statement reads in part:

“The Federal Government has been supportive in coordinating the activities of the sector across the value chain.”

TCN also said that it aims at achieving 5,000 megawatts in a short time, adding that this would be an important milestone for the nation’s economy.

The improved electricity situation in the country was first highlighted by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Godknows Igali during a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, August 12.
