Osinbajo VP says FG not sure when Chibok girls will return

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, at a forum on  vulnerable people in Nigeria said the Federal Government is not sure of when the Chibok girls will return.

Osinbajo however assured Nigerians that no stone will be left unturned in the bid to rescue the girls, adding that there are ongoing efforts in partnership with the international community.

He said “At every security council meeting that I have attended, the President has always been concerned about Chibok girls. He thinks of how this can be done quickly. But it’s a very delicate issue and we cannot say we can deal with it next week. Every rescue attempt must take the safety of the girls into consideration.”

“From the security reported we get, we will be able to bring back the girls but we must exercise some caution and patience and not sound as if it can be done but it’s not being done.”

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright, while receiving members of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group at the UK Embassy in Abuja, said the British government has not forgotten the abducted Chibok girls.

Over 2oo female students were kidnapped by Boko Haram, from the Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State, in April 2014.
