'He thinks he's bigger than entire Edo', Gov demands respect from Gabriel Igbinedion

Oshiomhole said the influential Chief does not belong to the four levels of government - Federal, State, Local and Traditional Institution, so he should respect him as the state Governor.

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has ruled out the possibility of reconciliation between him and the the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion who he said disrespected his Office as the state Governor, saying he believes he is bigger than the whole state.

Speaking in Okada,  Igbinedion’s ancestral home, where he commissioned class room blocks at Iguomo and a three-storey office complex, Oshiomhole said the influential Chief does not belong to the four levels of government - Federal, State, Local and Traditional Institution, so he should not disrespect his office.

He said: “I heard the Chairman talking about my quarrel with Igbinedion. I have no problem with anybody. There are only four levels of government, federal, state, local and traditional institution. The House of Igbinedion does not belong to any of this. He is a chief and I respect him as a chief but he must respect constituted authorities, the office of the governor of Edo State. This governor cannot be harassed, he cannot be blackmailed. And I stand ready to defend that office.”

The block of classrooms and the three-storey office complex were named after the Governor.
